Hit a local beach mark at 0430, third cast a bass nailed the patchinko, after a nice fight a Bass of 3.5lb was returned a little wiser. Five casts later patchinko was blown sideways in the water, pause, twitch bang fish on, the Tekon 702 was given a nice work out, a 4lb plump Bass returned just as dawn was breaking. Considering the neap tides, I was more than happy to catch anything. Decided to try a local estuary. When I arrived at 0700 I could see the Terns dive bombing the water, everywhere you could see fish boiling and sprats and sandeels scattering, sometimes you just know you are in for some serious sport, nevertheless the next two hours were shear magic. First cast the Daiwa Shorelineshiner was nailedby a decent fish. The current was strong and the fish stayed out in the current, the Teklon was doubled over, I eventually landed the fish 5.5lb on the Boga. Cast after cast produced Bass after Bass it was a feeding frenzy pure and simple. Two hours later, 27 Bass were landed in what can only be described as a fantastic mornings fishing. The tides were very small the estuary was mirror calm and the Sun was quite strong:geek: just when you think you have it sussed. I landed five fish around five lbs,one 5.5lbs 15 Bass around the 3-4lb mark, the rest schoolies. The interesting thing is that all the best fish were caught on the Shorelineshiner before I lost it in a serious fish:evil:and before the sun really got up. As the estuary turned mirror calm, the slimmer Megabass X120 hammered the Fish (slimmer profile). The other lure to do well was the K-10.A morning I will not forget in a hurry:mrgreen:
Happy days
Bob

Thanks for the heads up **** on the lure, the bigger fish hit them with a vengeance, the only downer for the day was that I left the lure in a Bass that was heading for 7-8lb. The Bass stayed out in the current and kept rolling and slashing, could not move her on the Teklon702;(which to be fair is a lovely rod). I reckon the gill rakers did the damage on the leader. Pity hopefully the lure might fall out.

hi bob
i had the very same thing yesterday in a mark..and it
broke my heart..i bought a new patchinko and on my
first cast two turns of the reel handle and a bass goes
2 feet into the air with it and straight to ground..and no
way could i shift it..the only thing is i think the fish
mite hav come off..i could feel no movement of fish
on it once it went solid...i was also gutted to loose
the lure but thats fishing eh..

Thanks for all the kind words lads, still buzzing, its not about numbers that gave me the thrill; it was the whole visual aspect, baitballs, diving terns and Bass bowwaving into the shallows after bait, hopefully a good Autumn is in store.
regards Bob
