Weymouth May Bank Holiday Bumble - 30th May

We started to talk about this in Feb so it's probably slipped of the radar. So who's up for a bumble around the magnificence of the Weymouth fishing area in Sunday 30th May.

The suggested itinerary is :

Fish
10am Meet at Lightouse Cafe on Prtland for Breakfast
Fish !
1pm Meet somewhere for Lunch
Fish !
Later - Meet somewhere to brag about what's been caught.

Hopefully the weather will be better by then and we will only need one set of thermals!

I'm in Jon, planning to drive down late on Saturday and sleep in the car until just before sunrise. Fish like a maniac and meet for brekkie, then the rest of the day sounds great.

Rain or shine i'll be there, if it's blowing a gale and pissing down then I guess we can hit the harbour and try out some of this "finesse" stuff with my new 6' Rookie

Hopefully I will be down for the bank holiday, Should be down friday night, so hopefully I will hit a few marks and see if I can find some bass.
Looking forward to it, hopefully we will have a few others along as well.

I'll checkout the tides as I fancy a crack some Wrasse off Portland Head. Did it last year with 6oz beachsaters and they were fun then, must be fantastic a lighweight spiining rod....

I'm coming down guys with my tent on the Friday for 4 nights, just paid deposit at campsite, woo hoo. And Dave couldnt help myself and had my first delivery from Mick yesterday in preparation.....

Sounds like a cunning plan to me Dave, because its the bank holiday our usual campsite is only taking bookings for 4 days, so unfortunately I will have to cram an extra day in....ohh the hardship 8)

Hi all

As the island is not fishing very well can I suggest we all meet in the swan in Weymouth town centre. The food & drink is cheap & its close to Reels & Deals. Let me know

Could do, Easy to find being close to Reels And Deals.
Still think Portland (although maybe not the ledges) is the best bet for a dawn session, unless you have a better idea. I can think a of a couple of other marks that could be better-depends on what the wind does. Drop me a PM if you want to discuss alternatives.
It is a bank holiday weekend as well-worth bearing that in mind as well.

With the way the water temp is around here I would seriously consider going east or west of Weymouth. I would think that Mike will concur with this. May weed is also a big problem in Weymouth Bay. Its up to you but this is what I would advise. Remember its a 14 mile round trip to Portland from Weymouth + its bank holiday weekend.

Weymouth + Weekend + Bank Holiday usually = Weather ****e !!!
