Good article: LINK

Makes a lot of good points
How often have you seen reels (especially lately) rated on their drag capacity?

Nick,
Not really an issue untill you start to look at reels like Stella's and Saltiga's.
I have used my spinning reels for tuna, even on yellowfin up to 20lb, still only need about 1kg of drag/300 meters of 15-20lb braid.

my point exactly
its only at the upper end of serious SW stuff that drag potential is an issue
but take my little stella 1000FD as an example

its marketed stating that you can extract up to 8kgs of drag
WTF? why?
no 1000 sized reel needs that amount of drag, but its capable of it
personally i'd prefer they determine a way of measuring and quantifying smoothness of drag systems
thats much more important, especially in light/finesse situations
