Hello,

I've notice that you guys fish a lot for wrasse and that you have several kinds of them over there.

Here in Portugal it's a very rare catch, especially on a lure.

I've only caught 2, and I've never saw this kind of fish before here in Portugal, is it a ballan wrase?

They are different in color, and the second one was bigger (the one in the sink).

They both were caught on a small X-Layer, and they didnt fight very well just dead weight tbh.

Definitely Ballan Wrasse, Pedro. They come in all sorts of colours: greens, blues, browns, reds. usually fight pretty hard though? we find them in rocky, weedy areas and around structure. Not considered a fish for the table in general in the UK although I understand they do eat quite well.

That's why I asked, I released the first one, and brought the second one home for curiosity, it was not very good to eat, the meat was oily.
I'll release them all if I catch more.

The fight was like a initial short run and then they stoped curled themselves like a leaf or something, maybe they were hooked in a way that hurted them during the fight or something.
