Guys,

Having not attended the Weymouth Festival before I would like some information regarding how long you stay, where you stay and what social activities you get up to whilst there ?????????

I will start another thread asking the same questions about Jersey !

Last year we mostly stayed at The Chatsworth B&B, just about sound apart from the walk to the top floor. Stay the last night regardless so you can go to the prize giving. Socialising and eating in the bar over the rod from Reels n Deals and not forgetting to find time for a beer with the lads and a nifty story or two from Nathan.

I think that Tom (spitty) said something about booking into the chatsworth hotel for this years festival,, is it true they leave the bar open with nothing but an honesty box???

There was a thread elsewhere on this Steve - a bunch of us camped over at Pebble Banks. It's got showers and a bar etc and is well located for getting across to Portland. As for social activities, it was just fishing and sleeping! I think it was £12/night and it is worth booking. I didn't stay for the prize giving last time, but will definitely make the effort for this year!

The chatsworth did indeed have an honesty book, it was really handy, I saw "Tom Hollyock; 2 x lemonade" so I added 4 x budweiser, a snickers, a bag of nuts (dry roasted bein sur) and two cans of coke for the morning, sorted, a very handy little book indeed. Watch out for the car parking, you need a permit, and they book you, and they will you know!

lol whats the story there?
Well it was a cold night and I din't fancy ****.....

Seriously (?) My favourite story of the weekend (apart from the ones about guiding people rather than fishing...);

Lady walks in to the guest house from the street:-

Lady: "Oh, my mother is in the downstairs, I just wanted to ask if we could have lunch, only last time we were in Weymouth we stayed here and we had a lovely crab salad."

Manageress: "Oh, oh dear. I can't do you a salad I'm afraid. Hmmm, well.....I might be able to do you a crab sandwich."

Lady: "Well, perhaps. Well yes, if we can't have a crab salad then a crab sandwich would be OK."

Manageress: "OK then. Now, do you want lettuce and tomato with that?"

You couldn't make it up. Diamond people, the real thing and I loved her to bits.

Well, I named the plank after her anyway.....

"Good Morning Sarah"
"Well it would be but your friends just walked off and not paid his bill"
laugh, snigger.....
"It's not funny, and I suppose this plank of wood and dirty great big net is his too"
"I'm sorry, didn't mean to laugh, would you like me to phone him?"
"If you wouldn't mind"
.....mid channel, no signal.....
"I'll try Mike, he'll come and get the plank of wood and the net"
"Errr Mike, I'm at the Chatsworth........."

The lady had ****'s credit card details all the time. Besides, would you have wanted to get her up at 5 in the morning before she'd put her face on??????

Sarah at the Chatsworth was a lovely lady, she looked after us and even packed us lunch as we were all missing our breakfasts as we were all leaving so early. Sound little hotel, the stairs are a killer though. And the plank of wood had a tip section taped to it in my rod tube on the way over, I think it was for Tunny, once he took the tip I was left with the 4ft peice of battoning, which we left behind the door and forgot. The net was on a "if not used sale or return" basis from Reel and Deals. Roll on this yrs fest, the last one was sound.

Nah I will leave something random each time, maybe a space hopper would blow her mind this year, and of course you will have to act totally cool when you pick it up, act like its perfectly normal for a 42 yr old 18 stone fisherman to have space hopper whilst holidaying in Weymouth.
