The Japanese old school are very ceremonialised when it comes to fishing so I guess they were just showing a little respect for that. The chiseling was to level a section of the rock so that he could fit the rawlbolts in the rock to bolt the winch / reel down. That was more the fishermen earning a living than anglers though. IMHO. But what a session. Fancy hooking one of them on our gear........:shock::shock:
