What is the world record for GT's? Do they get to a point where they just too big to target on lure tackle?

Mark,
72.8 kg (160 lb 7 oz) is the current all tackle IGFA record, caught in Tokara, Kagoshima , Japan on 5/22/2006 by Keiki Hamasaki. (but larger fish have been caught and returned alive and unweighed)
But that is fishing to IGFA rules, which for the sake of the health of the fish, many GT anglers ignore. Being more interested in returning the fish, than the record. Anything over a 100lb is a huge challange on "spin" type tackle. As the big guys LOVE structure, and will head for the reef as soon as hooked. Even on unlimited stand up gear (200lb+ braids) it is an achievement to boat a 100lb+. Brilliant sport fish.

Doing the math is could well be - although needs to be based on 3 or 6 anglers (3 per boat) worked out;

Flights £600 PP
Boat and accommodation based on three sharing £1200 PP
Pocket money £300 PP

= £2100 PP ...

edit - this is for three days fishing and all inclusive inc tackle hire
