Has anyone else had problems with YGK WX8 20lb snapping like cotton when tying a furo leader on????

New spool from Japan on its 3rd outing, and each time I try and tie a leader on it snaps!

Doesnt snap on the knot either. On the improved albright it snaps couple inches above the knot, and on uni to uni its 5mm or so above the knot!

Used it for years with no problems!

    Not impressed!

I have never had a problem with it Dan.

Are you sure you haven't bought " upgrade" by mistake ?

Always been my go to and very consistent. I don't think I have ever heard of anybody having any trouble with it tbh. Could it be counterfeit ? Where did you get it from ?

Never had a problem with it either. Apparently, if a (strong) knot is tied correctly then it should break where you said, not at the knot itself.

I use the FG knot for braid to fluoro leader and it has NEVER snapped at the knot. Usually at the lure clip.

Like Kev asks. counterfeit? I got done by powerpro once. I know there is more of that dodgy stuff around, but.....

Always broke cleanly a couple inches from the knot on the uni to uni and improved albright!

Then you must have tied the knot correctly, like I said.

Bad batch, or that section has been damaged during use ? Have you checked your rod rings & line roller, just to be sure ?

Hi mate, reel is a brand new Stradic CI4+, the rod is my injection 73m with no damage to the rings. The line is smooth as a babys bum, no fraying what so ever. Its only been used 4 or 5 times since I put it on a month ago. When it snaps, its a clean cut with no strands?!?!?

Damaged section I can rule out as ive stripped back 10 yards and its still the same.

    Very weird!

I'd just be stripping it off & binning it at this stage. No good fishing with potentially dodgy braid. It's exactly when Mrs Lunker will turn up.

I have had the same thing happening to me. I thought it had to do with the first meter or so getting damaged by rocks and shells. Every time i went out i tied a new leader. That solved the problem for me. I once lost a good fish with a patchinko in it's mouth. Since then i allways check my leader.
